Road Work Ahead

Hearing about road work is bittersweet. While it’s great to see problems being fixed, it’s easy to get frustrated about delays and impacts. Learning what’s being done will hopefully keep the waiting easier.

What does “repair and overlay” mean?

An overlay is a new application of asphalt concrete approximately two inches to the pavement over the stretch of road. This is more intensive than a “patch” work where selective pavement is replaced. Potholes and cracks will be repaired before asphalt is installed for a smoother, more permanent fix.
