Protecting the environment is a duty that falls upon each and every one of us and Shelby Township is doing our part to keep the world clean and green. From being a Tree City, to running yearly Arbor Day events, to implementing ordinances aimed at protecting trees, vegetation, and even our butterflies, Shelby Township is dedicated to preserving our town for ourselves and the next generations.
Environmental Organizations

The Shelby Township Beautification Committee is excited to announce that Shelby Township Clean-Up Day will take this Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with registration open from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Shelby Township Activities Center, 14975 21 Mile Road, Shelby Township, MI 48315.
This popular annual event brings together residents, community groups, and local service organizations to help keep Shelby Township beautiful. Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to join the effort, with individuals, families, student groups, civic clubs, and church organizations welcome to participate to help cover as many areas of the township as possible. If you're looking to give back to your community, earn service hours, or simply enjoy the outdoors while making a difference, Clean-Up Day is a great opportunity.
Road assignments will be given out at registration. Walk-ins are recommended to watch the safety video first before arrival. The safety video and indemnification forms are available at shelbytwp.org/cleanup.

Items Accepted: pesticides, herbicides, oil, gasoline, antifreeze, paint thinner, fire extinguishers, propane cylinders, smoke detectors, cooking oil, car batteries, household batteries, cleaners, compact fluorescent, LED, and fluorescent bulbs, aerosols, mercury-containing devices, chlorine, oil-based, and latex paint.
Eyeglasses and pill medications are also accepted. Please have both available on the front seat. Remove pills from bottles and place in a resealable bag. Do not bring empty pill bottles. Liquid medications, aerosols and injectables are not accepted.
Sharps accepted in a sealed coffee can or rigid plastic container.
Items Not Accepted: electronics, explosives, medical or business waste, appliances, tires, ammunition, or trash
