Shelby Township Police Department

A MedReturn drug collection unit has been installed at the Shelby Township Police Department for the public to discard prescription medications in a safe and environmentally-friendly manner.   It is available 24 hours a day in the lobby of the police station.  Be sure that the item you wish to discard of is an accepted item.  If it is NOT, contact your waste hauler/health department for disposal information. Remove all accepted medications from their containers and place in a re-sealable bag prior to depositing in the collection box.

Accepted items are: prescription medications, patches and ointments, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, samples, medications for pets.

Items NOT accepted are: hydrogen peroxide, thermometers, inhalers, needles and other sharps, medication from businesses or clinics, aerosol cans, non-prescription ointments, lotions or liquids
