Shelby Township Police Department

The Shelby Township Police Department established its Community Services Unit to take a proactive approach to crime prevention. Shelby Township officers reach out to the community at events such as the Shelby Township Art Fair, Shelby Township DDA Independence Day Fireworks, Shelby Township Parks, Recreation and Maintenance Halloween Spooktacular and the Shelby Township Senior Center Senior Olympics.

We strive to strengthen our partnerships with citizens of the business community, schools, places of worship and households. These partnerships facilitate an active sharing of information and allow law enforcement officers to educate the public on various trends in crime. This training covers topics such as our ALICE training that focuses on active shooter civilian response as well as property theft, financial crimes and school safety.

The Community Services Unit consists of our school resource officers, members from the traffic safety bureau, detective bureau and patrol officers.

The Shelby Township Police Department recognizes the importance of community involvement and utilizes social media and one-on-one interactions to help “humanize” the law enforcement profession. Please follow us on Twitter @ShelbyTwp911 and Facebook at
