The employees at the Charter Township of Shelby are looking for a resident to represent them on the Employee Civil Service Commission.
The Commission is responsible to provide uniform personnel administration at the Township; to ensure that selection and separation of employees is based upon qualifications, and is in compliance with the law; and to ensure, protect, and clarify the rights and responsibilities of employees. Appointed Commissioners meet once per month on Tuesdays and are paid $35 per meeting. Shelby Township Ordinance No. 43, approved by the electorate at the General Election held on Tuesday, November 5, 1968 authorized the formation of the General Employees Civil Service Commission.
The main goals and objectives of the Commission are to ensure fair treatment and nondiscrimination in Township hiring and employment practices, and to provide compliance with federal and state equal opportunity requirements and regulations.
The General Employees Civil Service Commission meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Lobby Conference Room at 5:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
