NEW ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM FOR GENERATORS, POOL EQUIPMENT AND AIR CONDITIONERS
The building department will now require a signed acknowledgment form when pulling a permit for Generators, Pool Equipment and Air Conditioners. This form provides the requirements for the placement of this equipment and will need to be submitted along with the proper permit(s). The form can be found under Applications and Forms and it is also available in the outline procedures for Swimming Pools, Hot tubs, and Spas. See link below:

NEW GAS PIPE & GAS METER SIZING WORKSHEET FOR GENERATORS, TANK-LESS WATER HEATERS & POOL HEATERS
The building department will now require a Gas Meter Sizing worksheet when pulling a permit for Generators, Pool Heaters and Tank-less Water Heaters. You will need to provide the BTU rating for each appliance and decide whether the current Gas Meter is the proper size. The form can be found under Applications and Forms and it is also available in the outline procedures for Swimming Pools, Hot tubs, and Spas. See link below:

NEW MICHIGAN RESIDENTIAL BUILDING CODE
The 2015 Edition of the Michigan Residential Code (2015 International Residential Code with State of Michigan Amendments) becomes effective on February 8, 2016. All work under permit applications received on or after that date shall conform to the new code.
The codes may be purchased from the International Code Council, 500 New Jersey Avenue, N.W., 6th Floor, Washington, D.C. 20001, or from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Construction Codes, 2501 Woodlake Circle, Okemos, Michigan 48864, at a cost as of the time of adoption of these amendatory rules of $118.00.
Shelby Township Building Department's mission is to protect public safety, health and welfare insofar as they are affected by building construction within the community, and, in general, to secure safety to life and property from hazards incident to the design, erection, repair, removal, demolition or occupancy of buildings, structures or premises.
To obtain compliance with national, state and local construction codes through the process of permit issuance; plan review; and onsite inspections of work performed.
The Building Department is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the State of Michigan Building, Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical Codes. In addition, the Building Department administers and enforces ordinance provisions pertaining to fences, sidewalks, tree and woodland preservation, unsafe buildings and zoning.
