Shelby Township Clean-Up Day
SHELBY TWP CLEAN UP DAY
Saturday April 29th, 2017
The Shelby Township Beautification Committee is looking for groups that are willing to adopt portions of Shelby Township roadways that they will clean on an annual basis.
At the end of April every year, the committee sponsors a clean-up day. During this event, hundreds of volunteers remove litter from the Shelby Township roadways and enjoy complimentary pizza and beverage lunch.
Currently, there are several groups that clean designated roads, but there are still sections of roads available for adoption. The Macomb County Department of Roads will install Adopt-A-Road signs at the beginning and ending of a group’s assignment to recognize their participation.
If you or your family, business, church, scout group or organization would like to be an adopter, call the Shelby Township Clerk’s Office at (586) 731-5102 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Walk ins register the morning of Clean Up Day. Arrive at The Community Center 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Saturday April 29th, 2017.
Shelby Township Clean-Up Day, which has been sponsored by the Beautification Committee for nearly 30 years, features boys and girls groups, leaders, parents, civic and business groups as well as walk-in residents working to keep Township streets and roads clean and clear of litter.
Following clean-up, hard-working volunteers celebrate with pizza and pop and the perennially beloved ‘weirdest thing found’ contest. Participants receive seed packets of cosmos flowers and a certificate of appreciation for their group. Many thanks go out to all involved, especially the Parks and Recreation Department, the Shelby Township Gardeners Club, Shelby TV and the Clerk’s Office. For more information, contact the Shelby Township Clerk at (586) 731-5102.
